Social action & communication media production

Social action & communication media production
When you are creating a corporate production for a Specialist Support Schools Partnership, which is a group of schools that are put together in the area known as Tameside this group approached us and gave us a brief. The point of this brief was for our corporate movie to show independence in the school from students from the ages four to eleven and showing the devices and techniques used to help the students get on with there day to day life and how to look after themselves in the real world and it would also show the care and support of the workers at the school as well making there school a homely and safe environment. Also this production was made to promote awareness of the SSSP from a social area.

We made this production by creating visual representation for the public to watch and explore the facilities and areas at OakDale Primary School by using the video as a gateway for them to create there own decision to send there child to this specific primary school in this production we explored different areas and difficulties that children at the school have and how they would combat this. For example many students suffer with speech issues so to combat this they have multiple ways to help such as speech therapy where they use cards, symbols and sign language to communicate with one another or the staff for those who don’t do this they speech music therapy were they use certain sounds to communicate or they use pre recorded messages on tablets to talk to one another.

When making the production we wanted to promote a positive attitude towards learning so do this we showed the students and staff working together which would relate to the audience and help create this idea of togetherness which helped our audience understand why the school is so well put and gives insight to the child’s day in OakDale.

The target audience for our promotional film would be parents of the local community in the area in which OakDale resides it is created for the parents who either attend OakDale already or for those who are looking for an appropriate school for there children to attend with there children having specific needs so this film would help persuade the parents to put there child in this school with the help of visual aid and a fresh perspective on the help and environment what the school provides for the students who attend this school. Furthermore it will show our audience the development of the skills that the students will learn to enable themselves to become independent.

The film will be used to inform the community as they will able to access this film through the school official website. Furthermore in the production there moments where structured interviews have taken place these are used to talk about the independence educational processes and the social interaction of students through the eyes of an experienced staff member both teaching and medical staff also many of them are assigned to certain areas of special requirements. The interviews are also a way of a question and answer session, which will allow the audience to feel more, relaxed as an experience staff members what parents want.

The structure of the corporate film has many shots and moments, which shows each specific student which a different need has the correct equipment at their disposal which will help the students who attend OakDale have the ability to communicate with other students or staff members. This school provides a sensory room which primary function is to calm the students down with the use of soothing colours, a mild temperature room and a conferrable sitting area as this school also helps children with Moderate learning difficulties. Through out the corporate film the audience with begin and in the end feel what it means to be independent through the use of this journey through the school and how it shows that no student is left out and how they take part in daily actives and how they are encouraged to get involved it even shows real actives you would perform in day to day life such as talking on the phone or going to the shops this is way to show our audience that you area able to live your life and that this school is help you peruse your life.

This corporate filmed has made the community more aware of the SSSP and by doing this schools are able to help students with learning difficulties or disabilities and help support them through a difficult transition of learning and life but with the help of the care, facilities’ and equipment used by OakDale they are able to grow and mature with the ability to become independent people while also having a seave educational environment which in turn will allow the parents to become more relaxed and allow there children to grow.

Corporate Film Evaluation

In this post i will reflecting on my corporate film for OakDale School and the process of how we made this corporate film for this school step by step and reflect on how things could of improved or how things could of been better.

When we started this unit we were assigned teams i was assigned a team with two others in this group we had a team leader who was in charge of me and the other member of my team. We then were assigned roles to do on our team blog i was assigned mainly research and development for ideas that we could use for our corporate film. Later we had meetings to come to an agreement on how we would film this and what we would use as well as taking notes and feedback from other members of the group we all had similar ideas and agreed on our final target. We then agreed on departments we were best at i was assigned with taking photos and recording shots in this film and was sub editor to the main editor.

We then booked days to film at the school where we met the staff who had previously sent us a brief to work from after our meeting we then went on to film  in the school getting our shots, audio and interviews. We had a list of children who could be filmed and those who couldn't those who couldn't were removed or taken out of shot.

The editor was our team leader and in charge of making the film and finally the other member was in charge of audio and interviews in this film. Over the course of the coming weeks the editor was focused on finishing this film as i was helping her with this film through a lot of the steps giving feed back and how we can change it to fit the brief we were assigned.

At the time when we were chosen as a team i was slightly unsure of how we would react as i had never worked with either members of my team before however i am glad to say that all of us worked well together and all worked hard on what we were assigned to do and all worked well together on shooting days. However there were times me and my team felt under pressure due to our client consistently changing there mind again and again it was hard for us to determine a final product for us to make due to the constant changes.

The whole experience was different to what i am use to doing what was good about it was the fact i got to come out of my comfort zone and mix with people who had different skills to mine and how we could all use our strengths to help benefit each other and help each other get a good grade from what we could put on the table. It was also a chance to learn from the others and to be able to produce something with other people in which all put our time and effort into it. However not all was good due to the lack of equipment we were provided after most of it was gone for other shoots and having faulty or none working equipment with either no power or half broken tripods this caused much dispute between the three of us and the other teams who had previously checked out the equipment leaving my team to struggle. However despite what was thrown at us we were able to over come and created a great piece of work together.

As i previously mentioned with our lack of equipment i could sense that my team leader was frustrated with the result of our lack of supplies. However after much talk and conference with our disputer we were able to obtain some more tech and then me and the team leader went back to film more footage as we were behind as our equipment was faulty or didn't have any memory for us to use we were both agitated by the lack of equipment and the consistency of how people were taken unneeded amount of equipment or not charging what we needed.

In conclusion the team and i produced a good piece of work despite our mishap with the lack of equipment that we were provided with and how we were left with the faulty equipment to work with. However we all worked well together and all used our strengths to make a good corporate movie as well get to know one another much more and it will help us in the future open up more if we were placed in the team once again.

If i was able to go back and do this again the only thing i would change is getting the equipment much early and having back ups just incase to save our progress also coming to firm and contracted agreement with out client so we didn't go through so many unnecessary changes and giving us less time to make the product for the school it was changes that were not needed and were often reverted back to the original as we had it before.
